We are currently looking for a highly qualified and dynamic individual to take on the role of Senior General Manager - Operations & Business Development Germany and our subsidiaries in CEE.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to lead and develop our business in the region, driving growth and ensuring success. As the Senior General Manager, you will have a leadership role and be responsible for supervising a highly skilled team of leaders in both areas, sales and operations. You will oversee operations at 24 different locations, which collectively employ more than 1200 colleagues. Furthermore, you will be in charge of leading operational excellence projects and business development efforts and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams on ensure operational excellence and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction in the EMEA region overall.

(Senior) General Manager - Operations & Business Development Germany (m/f/d)

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust business strategy that aligns with both local and regional objectives and targets. You will play a key role in leading and motivating a diverse team, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve operational excellence and consistently deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Your role will also involve efficient management and optimization of operational resources, which includes budget management, forecasting, and effective cost control measures. Moreover, you will be actively involved in driving business development initiatives, with a keen focus on identifying new market opportunities and establishing potential partnerships that contribute to the growth and success of the company.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders will be a critical aspect of this position. You will work closely with customers, partners, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth coordination and collaboration. Additionally, your responsibilities will encompass ensuring compliance with all relevant local regulations, industry standards, and company policies, thereby maintaining high ethical standards in all business dealings.
  • To effectively steer the company towards growth and success, you will need to monitor and analyze market trends and competitor activities. This will enable you to identify potential business opportunities and potential risks, allowing the company to proactively respond and adapt.
  • As a skilled professional, your role will involve effectively coordination and management of the Sales, Product and Operational functions of the company.
  • With your excellent leadership abilities, you will take charge of overseeing and guiding your teams in achieving significant business growth and maintaining strong relationships with key clients.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the organization by encouraging and supporting employees to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions to challenges. Furthermore, actively seeking feedback from employees and implementing their ideas to enhance the organization's processes and operations.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional and cross-country teams to drive operational efficiency and process improvement through effective communication, coordination, and teamwork. Working closely with different departments to identify areas for improvement and implementing strategies to streamline workflows and eliminate bottlenecks. Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior management role within the logistics industry, with a track record of driving business growth and operational excellence incl. P&L responsibility and "Prokura" holder / Power of representation preferred.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate decentralized teams within Germany.
  • Excellent business acumen and strategic thinking, with a focus on achieving ambitious results.
  • Experience (10 years +) in the logistics or transportation industry is required with a solid knowledge of the global air- and sea-freight business.
  • Strong financial and KPI mindset, with the ability to manage budgets and analyze financial and operational data.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both, German and English.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of local (German) regulations and industry standards.
  • Fluency in German and English is required.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • On-site presence on 3 out of 5 working days is preferred.
